Atlanta Hawks vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

The Atlanta Hawks look to continue their dominance over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night.  The Hawks are -7.5 point favorites over the Cavaliers with an over/under point total set at 190.

The Hawks came up short in their quest for their second three game winning streak of the month as they fell to the visiting Boston Celtics 79-76 on Monday night. Despite leading nearly the whole way, Atlanta fell behind by as many as 15 points in the fourth quarter, before rallying and narrowly missing out on sending the game into overtime. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers snapped a three game losing streak with an impressive 105-100 win over the New Jersey Nets, thanks to a career high 27 points from rookie Tristan Thompson.

Ever since Lebron James left the Cavaliers to go play for the Heat, Atlanta has dominated this series, winning each of the last six meetings by an average of 17 points per game. True to form, the Hawks took care of the Cavs in their most recent meeting just last week, running away with a 103-87 win in Cleveland behind a game high 28 points from guard Joe Johnson.

Head to head, the Cavaliers are 0-8 ATS in the last 8 meetings and 1-3-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Atlanta, while the road team is 7-3-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings and the favorite is 6-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The Hawks are 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Cavaliers on the other hand are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. NBA Southeast and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. Eastern Conference.

The Cavaliers have been surprisingly good in their last couple of game away from home, taking down the likes of Denver, Oklahoma City and New Jersey in the past two weeks. The Hawks on the other hand are coming off a home loss to Boston, however they have to fancy their chances against a team they have absolutely dominated in recent history. I wouldn’t surprise me to see Atlanta win by 15+ here, but give how well Cleveland has played on the road recently, I’ll take my chances with the points.
