Utah Jazz vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder returns home to face the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night. The Thunder are -13 point favorites over the Jazz with an over/under point total set at 201.
Russell Westbrook made sure the Thunder were going to finish their road trip off with a win as he scored 28 points to lead Oklahoma City to a 101-87 victory over Utah last Friday. The numbers were pretty even across the board, expect for free throw shooting as the Thunder got to the line 19 more times than the Jazz, which was the difference in the game. Kevin Durant also added 19 points on 6-10 shooting, while Al Jefferson paced Utah with 20 points and eight boards.
Head to head, the Jazz are 0-3-1 ATS in the last 4 meetings, but they are 3-1-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Oklahoma City, while the underdog is 4-1-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings and the road team is 5-0-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The Thunder are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400, but just 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 games as a home favorite of 11.0 or greater. The Jazz on the other hand are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 road games vs. a team with a winning home record, but just 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games playing on 0 days rest.
This is a tough one because we have different factors going for both teams here. The Jazz just lost to the Thunder at home by 14 and they will be playing their third game in as many nights. While the Thunder returned home from a long road trip and they are just 1-8 against the spread in their last nine home games following a road trip of seven or more days. I’m not really sure what to make of this Utah team on the road as they looked impressive after taking down Memphis by double digits, but then they looked average in losing to New Orleans last night, a team that had won just two home games all season. Despite all of this, I’m banking on the Jazz to keep this close enough for a late backdoor cover.
