San Antonio Spurs vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Two red hot teams collide tonight as the Philadelphia 76ers host the San Antonio Spurs.  The 76ers are -3 point favorites over the Spurs with an over/under point total set at 182.

The 76ers continued their dominance at home with a 95-90 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night to improve to 18-7 overall and 13-3 at Wells Fargo Center. Despite the wins, the questions surrounding Philadelphia’s status among the big boys of the league was in question after their soft opening month schedule. However, with recent wins over Orlando, Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles, those questions have been answered and the 76ers are genuinely considering a top four team in the Eastern Conference this season.

The Spurs on the other hand won their fifth straight contest with an impressive 89-84 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night. Just two days after knocking off the league leading Oklahoma City Thunder at home, San Antonio hit the road to open their longest road trip of the season in impressive fashion, knocking off the Grizzlies for the third time this season.

Head to head, the Spurs are 4-17 ATS in the last 21 meetings and Spurs are 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings in Philadelphia, while the home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the underdog is 16-5 ATS in the last 21 meetings. The 76ers are 14-3 ATS in their last 17 games as a favorite, 13-4 ATS in their last 17 home games and 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 games overall. The Spurs on the other hand are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall.

Talk about struggling against a team as the Spurs are just 4-17 ATS in the last 21 meetings against Philadelphia, which is surprising considering how good San Antonio have been over the last decade. Look, there’s no doubt the Spurs are in good form, but the fact remains that they are still 4-8 on the road this season. They have won their last two away from home, but they were both against Memphis, a team that knocked them out of the playoffs last season, so you can imagine they ‘get up’ for those games a bit more. The 76ers have been the most dominate home team in the East this season and until they start losing, why go against them.
