Phoenix Suns vs. Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets look to avoid three straight losses as they host Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns.  The Rockets are -6.5 favorites over the Suns with an over/under point total set at 198.

Since their season high seven game winning streak came to and end, the Rockets have hit a bump in the road as they have lost back to back games and three of five to fall to 12-10 overall. Not really known for their defensive prowess, Houston struggled to contain Minnesota and San Antonio in consecutive loss as the pair averaged 109.5 points and shot 52% from the field. A win tonight is essential for the Rockets as they head out on a six game road trip on Sunday, where they are just 3-7 away from home.

The Suns notched another road win on Wednesday night as they steam rolled through the slumping New Orleans Hornets 120-103. Phoenix, who are 3-2 on the road after winning only one of their first six, were led by veteran Steve Nash who scored 30 points and dished out 10 assists. Nash is now the Suns all time leader in assists after passing Kevin Johnson with 6522 dimes.

Head to head, the  Suns are 22-6 ATS in the last 28 meetings and 16-3 ATS in the last 19 meetings in Houston, while the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Rockets are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games as a favorite and 17-8 ATS in their last 25 games following a ATS loss. The Suns on the other hand are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games as a road underdog of 5.0-10.5 and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600.

Phoenix has dominated this series as of late, but lets be honest, this isn’t the same Suns team of years gone by. The Rockets have their downfalls too, but they will be hungry for a win coming off consecutive losses and they are 9-3 at home on the season, compared to just 4-7 on the road for the Suns.  Take the Rockets minus the 6.5.
