Minnesota Timberwolves vs. New York Knicks

Jeremy Lin and the New York Knicks look for their longest winning streak of the season as they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves.  The Timberwolves are -6.5 point favorites over the Knicks with an over/under point total set at 194.

The Timberwolves couldn’t take care of the ball in Friday night’s clash with the defending champion Mavericks as a result suffered their second straight loss 104-97. Kevin Love’s game high 32 points was overshadowed by a season high 28 turnovers as Minnesota consistently threw the ball away, running any chance they had to beat Dallas. “We threw passes away when we worked hard defensively and got the ball back. We just threw it away like there was no value to the ball,” coach Rick Adelman said, lamenting what he called a lack of concentration.

Jeremy Lin continued his amazing stretch with a career high 38 points to lead the Knicks to a memorable 92-85 win over the visiting Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night. New York has now win four straight games, despite the absence of stars Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudamire. With his 38 point effort against the Lakers, Lin has now scored 89 points since being inserted into the starting lineup three games ago, which is the most for any NBA player in his first three career starts over the last 20 years.

Head to head, the Knicks are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings and Knicks are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Minnesota, while the home team is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings and the favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Timberwolves are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest, but just 9-20 ATS in their last 29 games as a home favorite of 5.0-10.5 and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games. The Knicks on the other hand are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 28-11-1 ATS in their last 40 games as a road underdog.

Who would have thought a week ago that Jeremy Lin would be leading this Knick team to four straight wins, five tonight if they manage to pull off a victory. Having said that, I like the Timberwolves in this spot. New York is playing at a high level, but I want to see them do it on the road against someone other than Washington. Plus, defeating the Lakers last night would have taken a lot out of them. The honeymoon is over tonight.
