Michigan Wolverines vs. Indiana Hoosiers

The Michigan Wolverines and the Indiana Hoosiers meet on Wednesday in Ann Arbor in Big Ten college basketball action.  The Wolverines are -3 point favorites over the Hoosiers with an over/under point total set at 137.5.

The Michigan Wolverines have been alternating wins and losses over their last six games as John Beilein’s team sets it down for the stretch drive of the regular season. Michigan is 6-3 in the Big Ten, 12-0 at home this season, and tied for third place in the conference. Tim Hardaway Jr. is averaging 15.2 points, Trey Burke is averaging 14.1 points and 5.0 assists, and Zack Novack is averaging 9.0 points. As a team Michigan is averaging 67.5 points and they are shooting 45.9 percent and their opponents are averaging 61.1 points and their opposition is shooting 42.1 percent. Michigan is ranked 23rd in the nation but they are going to eventually need to win on the road to finish the regular season ranked.

The Indiana Hoosiers are ranked 20th in the country and Tom Crean’s team looks to finish off the regular season with a nice run. Indiana is 5-5 in the Big Ten, 3-4 on the road this year, and they are tied for sixth place in the Big Ten. Cody Zeller is averaging 15.2 points and 6.1 rebounds, Christian Watford is averaging 12.7 points and 5.7 rebounds, Jordan Hulls is averaging 11.9 points, and Victor Oladipo is averaging 10.2 points and 5.2 rebounds. As a team IU is averaging 79.5 points and they are shooting 50.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 65.8 points and their opposition is shooting 42.4 percent. Indiana has lost four of their last six so that makes this one a big one for the 20th ranked team in the nation.

Michigan is 7-1 against the spread following a game which they didn’t cover, 17-5 against the spread in their last 22 Big Ten games, and 11-4 against the spread in their last 15 home games. Indiana is 6-1 against the spread following a game in which they covered the spread, 4-12 against the spread against the Big Ten, and 1-4 against the spread in the last five home games. Indiana is 13-4 against the spread in the last 17 meetings of these two.

The total is set in the high 130’s and this one looks closer to 130 than 140 to me so my play will be on the under.
