Chicago Bulls vs. Boston Celtics

The Chicago Bulls look for some payback as they host the Boston Celtics from the United Center.  The Bulls are -8 point favorites over the Celtics.

With Derrick Rose sitting on the sidelines, the Bulls couldn’t make it two straight against the Celtics as Boston came away with a tough fought 95-91 win to even the regular season series at one game apiece on Sunday night. With Rose in the lineup, Chicago had no problems dispensing Boston in the first meeting of the season as Rose scored a game high 25 points to lead his team to a 88-79 victory back on January the 13th .

Sensing a perfect opportunity for some payback in the second meeting, Rajon Rondo had the best game of his season as he recorded 32 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds to guide the Celtics to a win on Sunday. With Rose still out with back spasms, the Bulls has no answer for Rondo as he carved them up all night and actually hit four clutch free throws to seal it at the end for Boston. Carlos Boozer and C.J. Watson added 22 apiece for a Bulls team that struggled from the field, shooting just 38.6% for the game.

Head to head, the Celtics are 2-6 ATS in the last 8 meetings, while the home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Bulls are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win, but just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games. The Celtics on the other hand are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600, but just 5-14 ATS in their last 19 games playing on 0 days rest and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600.

With Rose expected to miss tonight’s game again, the Celtics breath a sigh of relief because I don’t think they stand a chance if Rose were to play. Truth be told, neither team look great in their last outing as the Bulls struggled to beat a bad Sacramento team, while the Celtics lost at home to Detroit last night. Even with Kevin Garnett possibly out and the fact that they are playing in a back to back, I think it’s still just a couple of points to high to be giving a proud Celtics squad looking to atone for last night’s mess.
