Wisconsin Badgers vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers
The Wisconsin Badgers look for their first home win of 2012 as they host the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Badgers are -15.5 point favorites over the Cornhuskers with an over/under point total set at 104.
The Wisconsin Badgers ended their three game losing streak last time out as they knock off Purdue in West Lafayette but Bo Ryan’s team clearly has some work to do if they want to get back to competing against the better teams in the Big Ten. Wisconsin is 8-3 at home thus far this season but they are 0-2 in home conference games, a mark they want to improve on here. Jordan Taylor is averaging 13.5 points and 4.5 assists, Jared Berggren is averaging 11 points and 4.7 rebounds, Ben Brust is averaging 10.1 points and Ryan Evans is averaging 9.9 points and 6.7 rebounds. As a team Wisconsin is averaging 65.7 points and they are shooting 43.8 percent while defensively they are allowing 48.7 points per game and their opponents shoot just 35.1 percent. When Wisconsin has struggled it has been their own inability to score points which has cost them.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers finally got their first win in the Big Ten as Doc Sadler’s team knocked off Penn State on Wednesday. Life has been a struggle for the Huskers this year as they are tied for last place in the conference and they are 2-3 overall on the road. Bo Spencer is averaging 14.9 points, Toney McCray is averaging 10.6 points and 4.8 rebounds, and Jorge Brian Diaz is averaging 10.1 points and 4.7 rebounds. As a team Nebraska is averaging 62.1 points and they are shooting 43.4 percent while defensively they are allowing 62 points and their opponents shoot 42.6 percent. Back to back conference wins would be huge for the Huskers at this point.
Wisconsin is 8-2 against the spread following a win, 2-5 against the spread against the Big Ten, and 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games against a team with a losing road record. Nebraska is 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games overall, 4-9 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-4 against the spread following a win.
This is a monster point spread but when Wisconsin is playing their game they are worthy of this number against a team like Nebraska. This should be a very low scoring game but I still have the Badgers covering.
Wisconsin Badgers -15.5 Nebraska Cornhuskers
