Philadelphia 76ers vs. Milwaukee Bucks
The Philadelphia 76ers look to continue their hot start to the season as they host the visiting Milwaukee Bucks on MLK day. The 76ers are -8.5 point favorites over the Bucks with an over/under point total set at 189.
The 76ers continue to pile up the wins as they are off to their best start to a season since opening 10-0 in 2001. After their successful sweep of Washington in their home and home series, Philadelphia has raced out to a 9-3 start, which includes a perfect 6-0 mark at home. Although the 76ers don’t have a star player, there are getting things done as a team and not only do they rank as one of the best offensive teams, but also one of the best defensive teams as they lead the league defensive field-goal percentage (40.1) and rank second in scoring defense (86.2 ppg). Philly has been particularly tough at home this season as they won their first five games by an average of 25.2 points per game.
The Bucks continue to struggle on the road as they dropped to an NBA worst 0-7 away from home as they fell to the defending champion Dallas Mavericks 102-76 on Friday night. Milwaukee, who is undefeated at home, just can’t get anything going on the road as they are averaging a poultry 87 points per game on 39.9% shooting and a loss tonight would mark the first time since the 1976-77 season that they dropped eight or more road games to start a season.
Head to head, the Bucks are 3-1-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and 1-5-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Philadelphia. The underdog is 4-1-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings while the home team is 6-2-1 ATS in the last 9 meetings. The 76ers are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 home games, 8-0 ATS in their last 8 games as a favourite and 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The Bucks on the other hand are 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games as an underdog and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600, but just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games.
What’s not to like about this Philadelphia team? They don’t have any superstars or maybe even any All-Stars, yet they are one of the most impressive teams in the league cause they play the right way. Milwaukee on the other hand is pretty easy to figure out, they are great and home and they stink on the road, which isn’t going to get you far in this league if you can’t win any games away from home. The Bucks just got blown out in Dallas, but I think that was the last straw for them. I doubt they are going to get the win their looking for against the most dominant home team there is, however with Andrew Bogut coming back and three days to rest, something tells me they make a game of this. I hate going against Philly, but I truly believe the Bucks will go all out for the win tonight.
