Ohio St. Buckeyes vs. Michigan Wolverines

The Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines take to the hardwood in Columbus on Sunday as two nationally ranked Big Ten rivals face off.  The Buckeyes are -14 point favorites over the Wolverines with an over/under point total set at 127.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have won their last three games in a row and Thad Matta’s team looks to make it four and in the process take down their arch rival. Ohio State is 6-2 in the Big Ten, 14-0 at home, and 3-2 against teams ranked in the top 25. Jared Sullinger is averaging 17.3 points and 9.3 rebounds, Deshaun Thomas is averaging 14.7 points and 4.3 rebounds, and William Buford is averaging 15.2 points and 4.7 rebounds. As a team Ohio State is averaging 78 points and they are shooting 49.4 percent while defensively they are allowing 55.9 points, 8.9 assists, and their opponents shoot 39.3 percent. Ohio State is thinking Final Four at least but the question is whether or not their lack of depth will keep them from getting there.

The Michigan Wolverines are locked in a three way tie for first place in the Big Ten and John Beilein’s team hopes to still be there when this one is over. Michigan is 6-2 in Big Ten play, 3-2 in their last five games, and a 1-4 in the road this season. Tim Hardaway Jr. is averaging 15.2 points and 3.6 rebounds, Trey Burke is averaging 14.1 points 5.0 assists, and Zack Novak is averaging 9.5 points and 4.8 rebounds. As a team Michigan is averaging 68.4 points and they are shooting 46.4 percent while defensively they are allowing 61 points and their opponents shoot 42 percent. Michigan looks like a team that can go places in March and it will be games like this that determine how tough their road is going to be.

Ohio State is 5-0 against the spread in their last five home games, 5-1 against the spread against the Big Ten, and 5-2 against the spread following a win. Michigan is 17-4 against the spread against the Big Ten, 11-3-1 against the spread in their last 15 road games, and 1-3-1 against the spread following a win. Michigan has covered six in a row in this series.

Ohio State has been extremely tough at home and Michigan has been soft on the road and while the number here makes the game untouchable with the favorite my lean is that the Bucks cover.
