Ohio St. Buckeyes vs. Indiana Hoosiers
The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Indiana Hoosiers battle it out in Columbus in a rematch of ranked Big Ten teams. The Buckeyes are -12.5 point favorites over the Hoosiers with an over/under point total set at 142.5.
Ohio State has been one of the better teams in the nation this year and have lost just three times but one of those losses came to their opponent in this one, the Indiana Hoosiers. Thad Motta’s OSU squad has some of the best individual players in the nation as they did a year ago but what ended up doing them in was a lack of depth. Jared Sullinger is averaging 17.4 points and 9.3 rebounds, William Buford is averaging 15.4 points, Deshaun Thomas is averaging 15.3 points , and Aaron Craft is averaging 8.1 points and 5.2 assists. As a team Ohio State is averaging 77.8 points and they are shooting 49.4 percent while defensively they are allowing 56.2 points, 8.8 assists, and their opponents are shooting 40.1 percent. Ohio State is an uncharacteristic fourth place in the Big Ten and look for revenge here.
The Indiana Hoosiers have been one of the surprise teams in college basketball this year but Tom Crean’s team is coming off of their worst performance of the year losing at home to last place Minnesota. If nothing else IU was reminded that there are no easy games in the Big Ten and possibly they were looking ahead to this game. Cody Zeller is averaging 14.7 points and 6.5 rebounds, Christian Watford is averaging 12.9 points and 5.5 rebounds, Jordan Hulls is averaging 12.4 points, and Victor Oladipo is averaging 11.3 points and 5.4 rebounds. As a team Indiana is averaging 81.9 points and they are shooting 50.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 64.5 points and their opponents are shooting 41.4 percent. Indiana will be looking to bounce back and at the same time stay in the race for the Big Ten regular season title.
Ohio State is 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games following a loss, and 5-0 against the spread in their last five home games against a team with a winning road record. Indiana is 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall, 1-10 against the spread in their last 11 Big Ten games, and 1-6 against the spread following a loss. The favorite has covered in six of the last seven meetings of these two.
Ohio State is favored by 12.5 and I smell an OSU blowout.
