Mississippi Rebels vs. Auburn Tigers
The Auburn Tigers and the Mississippi Rebels meet in an SEC college hoops matchup on Saturday. The Rebels are -1 point favorites over the Tigers with an over/under point total set at 125.
The Auburn Tigers have lost their last three games in a row including their first two SEC games but Tony Barbee’s team has taken on two of the better teams in the conference, Vandy and Kentucky. Auburn has played the 254th ranked schedule overall though they are 9-1 at home we are starting to see where under scheduling may have them unprepared for their SEC schedule. Kenny Gabriel is averaging 11.6 points and 7.6 rebounds, Frankie Sullivan is averaging 11.1 points, Chris Denson is averaging 10.8 points, and Rob Chubb is averaging 10 points. As a team Auburn is averaging 65.4 points and they are shooting 43.6 percent while defensively they are allowing 64.8 points and their opponents shoot 40.9 percent. Auburn clearly has their work cut out for them in conference play this year and will need to at least win their winnable games if they hope to stay out of the basement in the standings.
The Ole Miss Rebels have played one of the tougher schedules in the nation, 48th overall, but it only gets tougher for Andy Kennedy’s team as they move deeper into SEC play. Ole Miss is 2-3 on the road and they have lost four of their last six games overall and things don’t appear to get any easier for them on the horizon. Dundecous Nelson is averaging 11.6 points, Terrance Henry is averaging 11.1 points, Murphy Holloway is averaging 10.6 points and 9.9 rebounds, and Jarvis Summers is averaging 10.1 points. As a team Mississippi is averaging 65.9 points and they are shooting 42.4 percent while defensively they are allowing 63.6 points and their opposition shoots 39.4 percent. Ole Miss was impressive their last time out knocking off Arkansas but recently they haven’t been able to play back to back solid games.
Auburn is 11-4 against the spread following a loss, 1-5 against the spread in their last six games overall, and 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Mississippi is 6-1 against the spread following a cover, 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall, and 4-1 against the spread in their last five SEC games. The favorite has covered in four of the last five meetings of these two.
Mississippi is a road favorite here but the line is virtually a pick and the pick here is the Rebels.
