Miami Heat vs. New Orleans Hornets
The Miami Heat looks for their fifth straight victory as they host the lowly New Orleans Hornets. The Heat are -13 point favorites over the Hornets with an over/under point total set at 186.5.
The Heat got the better of the visiting Chicago Bulls in their first meeting since squaring off in last seasons Eastern Conference finals as they grinded out a 97-93 victory on Sunday to improve to 15-5 overall. Lebron James continued his blistering form as he notched his third straight 30 point game with a game his 35 points and 11 rebounds, while Chris Bosh chipped in 24 and 12 respectively. Dwayne Wade struggled shooting for most of the night as he only connected on 4-16 from the floor for a Miami team that has now won four straight and seven of eight.
Truth be told, the Hornets have been playing at a decent level recently, however Sunday was a night to forget. After coming off their best win of the season against Orlando on Friday night, New Orleans struggled to get anything going against the visiting Atlanta Hawks as they scored a season low 72 points and shot just 37.5% from the floor. The Hornets trailed big early and they were down by as many as 29 points in the second half after a 23-4 run by the Hawks at the end of the third quarter. It was a tough loss for a New Orleans team that was competitive in each of their game the last two weeks.
The Hornets are 15-5-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings and 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Miami, while the underdog is 4-1-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The Heat on the other hand are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a home favorite of 11.0 or greater and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a home favorite. The Hornets on the other hand are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a road underdog, 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games as a road underdog of 11.0 or greater and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
All the against the spread stats here point towards a Hornets cover, but would you feel confident take them after last night’s debacle against the Hawks? Ill take the Heat based on last nights game.
