Los Angeles Lakers vs. Charlotte Bobcats
The Charlotte Bobcats look to avoid their ninth straight loss as they travel to Los Angeles to face the Lakers. The Lakers are -13.5 point favorites over the Bobcats with an over/under point total set at 199.5.
The Lakers got only their second road win of the season after defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 106-101 on Sunday night. Los Angeles has struggled away from Staples Center for the most part of the season and they nearly let another one slip on Sunday after they blew an 18 point lead, before eventually closing out the game.
Charlotte on the other hand have dropped eight on the trot and currently have the worst record in the entire lead heading into tonight’s game. Expected to finish in the bottom handful of teams this season, it hasn’t helped that Charlotte has been hamstrung with injuries as Corey Maggette, D.J Augustin, Gerald Henderson and Reggie Williams have all seen time on the sidelines.
Head to head, the Bobcats are 12-1 ATS in the last 13 meetings and 6-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Los Angeles, while the underdog is 12-1 ATS in the last 13 meetings. The Lakers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400, but just 17-35 ATS in their last 52 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The Bobcats on the other hand are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games as an underdog of 11.0 or greater, but just 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
The Lakers are 14-37 against the spread in their last 51 games as a home favorite of 11 points or greater, which tells you all you need to know about the Lakers as heavy home favs over the last couple of seasons. The Bobcats on the other hand are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games as a road underdog of 11 points or greater. Now this doesn’t mean anything, but they are some pretty alarming stats. For whatever reason, Charlotte has also covered in 12 of their last 13 against Los Angeles, which is pretty remarkable when you think about it. Look, the Bobcats are really bad, but Gerald Henderson and D.J. White should return today, which will give them a big boost. This could easily be a blowout, but I just don’t feel comfortable laying this many points to the Lakers.
