Chicago Bulls vs. Memphis Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies play host to the Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls on Martin Luther King day. The Bulls are -3.5 point favorites over the Grizzlies with an over/under point total set at 178.5.
Since their first meeting of the season back on New Year’s day, the Grizzlies are slowly adjusting to life without Zach Randolph and have gone 4-3 so far with Z-Bo out of the lineup. The league leading Bulls on the other hand have won eight of nine and are currently riding a five game winning streak after their 77-64 win over Toronto on Saturday night to improve to 12-2 overall.
The Grizzlies were nine points shy of matching their worst loss in franchise history after their 64-104 shellacking by the Bulls in their first meeting of the season in Chicago. When Zach Randolph went down late in the first quarter, everything turned grim for the Grizzlies as they shot just 31% from the field and trailed the Bulls 54-28 at half time. Carlos Boozer led the way for Chicago with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Ronnie Brewer added 17 and Derrick Rose chipped in 16 if his own. Sam Young and Josh Davis scored 10 points apiece to lead Memphis.
Head to head, the Bulls are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Memphis, while the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the underdog is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The Grizzlies are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 home games, but just 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games as a home underdog of 0.5-4.5 and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Bulls on the other hand are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record.
There’s no doubt the Grizzlies have been looking forward to this rematch ever since walking off the United Center floor back on New Year’s day. Even though they are improved lately, I’m not sure how much stock to put into their last four wins as they have come against lottery teams, except New York, who were missing Carmelo Anthony for half the game. The Bulls on the other hand just keep on piling up the wins, no matter who the opponett. I’m sure Memphis will be fired up to get a win on Martin Luther King day against the team that just beat them by 40, however do you really want to bet against Derrick Rose and the Bulls at the moment? I sure don’t.
