Charlotte Bobcats vs. New York Knicks
Two teams in desperate need of a win collide tonight as the Charlotte Bobcats host the New York Knicks. The Knicks are -4 point favorites over the Bobcats with an over/under point total set at 191.
Since their second meeting of the season, the Knicks have been in a tail spin and have lost six straight to fall to 6-10 overall. The Bobcats on the other hand haven’t been much better as they have only won the single games since the 9 th January and have lost four in a row as they trail on Washington for last spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
As 11.5 point underdogs, the Bobcats stunned the Knicks on their home floor in their first meeting of the season, coming away 118-110 winners. Despite 32 points from Carmelo Anthony, Charlotte got whatever they wanted offensively as they shot 55.3% from the floor, which included going 7-11 from beyond the arc as they stunned the New York crowd. Boris Diaw led six Bobcats players with 27 points, going 12-15 from the field and connecting on all three of his three point attempts. The Knicks would get the revenge they were looking for as Amare Stoudamire scored a game high 25 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead New York to a tough fought 91-87 victory over Charlotte in New York. The Knicks were much better on the defensive end this time as they held the Bobcats to just 41.5% shooting, compared to just 38% of their own. However, they got the free throw line 25 times more, which was the difference in the game.
Head to head, the Knicks are 3-8 ATS in the last 11 meetings and 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Charlotte, while the underdog is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings. The Bobcats are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 vs. NBA Atlantic, but just 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games. The Knicks on the other hand are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games and 5-17 ATS in their last 22 games overall.
Not really sure I agree with this line. What exactly have the Knicks done lately to deserve to be 4 point road favorites over anyone in the league? Not only that, but the Bobcats have already beaten them this season and came close to doing it a second time. This might be the game where New York turns things around, but I wouldn’t put my money on it. D.J. Augustin will miss tonight’s game which will hurt Charlotte, but the Knicks have injury concerns of their own as Carmelo Anthony clearly isn’t 100%. Give me the points here.
