Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Vanderbilt Commodores

Two teams looking to move up the SEC standings face off as the Arkansas Razorbacks host the Vanderbilt Commodores.  The Commodores are -3 point favorites over the Razorbacks with an over/under point total set at 142.5.

The Arkansas Razorbacks are a team on the rise and while Mike Anderson’s team may not be at the top of the mountain yet, they appear to at least be on a path that can get them there. Arkansas is 3-3 in the SEC, 15-0 at home this season, and they are in sixth place in the conference standings. B.J. Young is averaging 14. 4 points, Mardracus Wade is averaging 10.8 points, and Rickey Scott is averaging 10 points. As a team the Razorbacks are averaging 74.2 points and they are shooting 43.6 percent while defensively they are allowing 66.1 points and their opponents are shooting 40.5 percent. Mike Anderson has brought this winning attitude and style from Missouri and it has already had a big impact on the Hogs.

The Vanderbilt Commodores are in striking distance of the SEC leading Kentucky Wildcats but it seems every time Kevin Stallings’ team gets very close they stumble. Vandy is 5-1 in the SEC, 4-1 on the road this season, and tied for second place in the SEC with the Florida Gators. John Jenkins is averaging 19.9 points, Jeffrey Taylor is averaging 17.3 points and 5.8 rebounds, Lance Goulbourne is averaging 9.9 points and 7.2 rebounds, and Brad Tinsley is averaging 9.6 points and 4.4 assists. As a team Vanderbilt is averaging 74.7 points and they are shooting 46.8 percent while their opponents average 65.3 points and they are shooting 42.3 percent.  Vandy is better than several teams ranked ahead of them in the rankings it’s just their losses have been untimely and have left the Commodores under rated.

Arkansas is 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five home games, 1-10 against the spread following a cover, and 20-8-1 against the spread in their last 29 home games against a team with a winning road record. Vandy is 4-0 against the spread following a game which they didn’t cover, 20-7-2 against the spread in their last 29 road games, and 5-0 against the spread in their last five road games against a team with a winning home record.

This one looks almost too easy as Arkansas has been unbeatable at home and they are getting points on top of that.
