Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Central Michigan Chippewas
The Nebraska Cornhuskers go for their fourth win in a row as they take on the Central Michigan Chippewas in Tuesday college basketball action. The Cornhuskers are -11.5 point favorites over the Chippewas with an over/under point total set at 118.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers are up against it this season and Doc Sadler’s team is looking to rack up all the wins they can before they open up their first season in the Big Ten. While the Huskers have been playing in the very competitive Big 12 the Big Ten should bring on its own new set of challenges. Bo Spencer is averaging 16.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists, Brian Jorge Diaz is averaging 10.9 points and 4.9 rebounds, Brandon Ubel is averaging 6.7 points and 6.3 rebounds, and Caleb Walker is averaging 7.2 points and 4.7 rebounds. As a team Nebraska is averaging 66.3 points and they are shooting 44.6 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 60.3 points and their opponents shoot 39.8 percent. Nebraska opens their Big Ten schedule in a week against Wisconsin followed by games against Michigan State, Ohio State, and Illinois.
It’s been a rough start to the season for the Central Michigan Broncos and while Ernie Ziegler’s team is getting a lot of experience, they aren’t getting a lot of wins. CMU is just 1-4 away from home and they have yet to beat a team with an RPI better than 200. Trey Ziegler is averaging 17.3 points and 6.7 rebounds, Austin McBroom is averaging 11.2 points, Derek Jackson is averaging 10.7 points, and Andre Coimbra is averaging 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds. As a team Central Michigan is averaging 64.7 points and they are shooting 40.6 percent while defensively they are averaging 67.7 points and their opponents shoot 38.7 percent. The Broncos still have two weeks until their MAC schedule kicks off.
Nebraska is 1-5 against the spread after allowing less than 50 points their previous game and the under is 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 home games against a team with a losing record. Central Michigan is 3-10 against the spread in their last 13 games following a cover and 2-9-1 against the spread in their last 12 road games against a team with a winning home record.
The line in this one opened at 12.5 and quickly dropped a full point down to 11.5 but honestly I don’t see it. Nebraska is the far better team here and in one their last chances to flex their muscles this season I think they do.
