Michigan Wolverines vs. Bradley Braves

The Michigan Wolverines play their last game before starting their Big Ten schedule as they host the Bradley Braves.  The Wolverines are -17 point favorites over the Braves with an over/under point total set at 134.

The Michigan Wolverines have won four games in a row and enter this one nationally ranked as John Belein’s team looks to be a factor this season. UM has won all six of their home games this season with all of their losses coming either on the road or at a neutral site. Tim Hardaway Jr. is averaging 15.4 points, Trey Burke is averaging 13.1 points and 4.7 assists, Eric Smotrycz is averaging 10.9 points and 6.4 rebounds, and Zac Novak is averaging 9.3 points and 4.6 rebounds. As a team Michigan is averaging 71.2 points and they are shooting 49.4 percent while defensively they allow 60.4 points per game and their opposition shoots just 39.5 percent. The Wolverines play the projected fourth ranked schedule in the nation this year so they will have plenty of chances to see where they rank in the college basketball world this year.

The Bradley Braves have dropped their last two games and Geno Ford’s team hits the floor for this one a game under .500. Bradley has played a reasonable schedule and this will be their second game against a team ranked in the top 25 after losing to Wisconsin earlier this season. Taylor Brown is averaging 14.7 points and 7.4 rebounds, Walt Lemon Jr. averages 12.4 points, Dyrcris Simms-Edwards is averaging 12.2 points, and Jordan Prosser is averaging 9.2 points and 8.7 rebounds. Offensively Bradley is averaging 64.5 points and they are shooting 45 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 66.6 points and their opponents shoot 42.3 percent. The Missouri Valley Conference looks to be tough and deep again this year making it look like it could be a long year for Bradley.

Michigan is 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 home games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five non-conference games, and 12-4 against the spread following a win. Bradley is 7-2 against the spread in their last nine road games, 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games overall, and 1-4 against the spread following a loss.

Michigan is laying a huge number here and while the Wolverines are far and away the better team I’m just not comfortable laying 17 here.
