Georgia Bulldogs vs. Auburn Tigers

Two ranked SEC teams face off in Athens as the Georgia Bulldogs host the Auburn Tigers.  The Bulldogs are -13 point favorites over the Tigers with an over/under point total set at 47.

With South Carolina losing last week the Georgia Bulldogs have moved into first place in the SEC East and control their own destiny as far as going to the SEC Championship Game. Mark RIcht’s Bulldogs have rebounded from a 0-2 start and have reeled off seven consecutive wins. Aaron Murray continues to put together a solid season completing 60 percent of his passes for 2,060 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. Star running back Isaiah Crowell was one of the Georgia players who were suspended last week but he’ll be back for this one and for the season he has 689 yards and four touchdowns as he averages 4.7 yards per carry. Orson Charles and Tavarres King each have five touchdown catches with Charles hauling in 31 receptions and King with 29. The UGA defense has 12 interceptions, eight fumble recoveries, and 20 sacks. Michael Gilyard has 54 tackles, Jarvis Jones has eight sacks, and Baccari Rambo has six interceptions. Georgia is playing their best football of the season right now and what might be their best football in the past several years.

While the Auburn Tigers aren’t going to be back to back National Champions, Gene Chizik’s team has gained valuable experience and played competitively. Clint Mosely is Auburn’s third QB this season and he has performed the best completing 68.2 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and just one interception. Michael Dyer is one of the most explosive and exciting players in the nation with 989 yards and nine touchdowns and Onterrio McCaleb makes it a dual threat in the backfield. Emeory Blake has 24 catches and five touchdowns and Phil Lutzenkirchen has 17 catches with five of them going for touchdowns. The Auburn defense has had their share of struggles but they have eight interceptions, eight fumble recoveries, and 17 sacks. Neiko Thorpe has 69 tackles, Croey Lemonier has 6.5 sacks, and Eltoro Freeman has three sacks. The Auburn defense will be put to the test once again this week.

Georgia is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games as a favorite, 4-1 against the spread in their last five SEC games, and 3-9 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Auburn is 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 SEC games, 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 games as a road underdog, and 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games as an underdog of 10.5 or more points. The home team has covered four in a row in this series.

I like the Auburn Tigers to keep this game close and will be taking the 13 points.
