Fresno St. Bulldogs vs. Mississippi Rebels
The Fresno State Bulldogs look to avenge last year’s blowout loss as they host the Mississippi Rebels. The Bulldogs are -4 point favorites over the Rebels with an over under point total set at 52.
No one will ever accuse Pat Hill and the Fresno State Bulldogs of under scheduling and at 2-2 after four games they have already had their share of successes and failures. With two wins and two losses under his belt QB Derek Carr has completed 59.4 percent of his passes for 1010yards and nine touchdowns while being intercepted twice. Rashad Evans has been Carr’s primary target catching 21 passes for 184 yards and a touchdown while Deveon Wylie has 12 catches and Jalen Saunders has 11 catches for 335 yards and four touchdowns. Robbie Rouse looks to continue the trend of star running back for the Bulldogs as he has a4.5 yards per carry average for 477 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively Fresno State has sacked the opposition seven times and has three interceptions and has recovered two fumbles. Travis Brown leads the FSU defense in tackles with 30; Logan Harrell has 26 with 8.5 of those going for a loss and 3.5 of them being sacks, and Terrance Dennis24 tackles. Fresno State is looking for their third consecutive win after starting the season 0-2.
After a tough start to the season following up on a poor 2010, the honeymoon may be over for Houston Nutt as head Coach of the Ole Miss Rebels and it won’t be long until he starts to feel the heat. Ole Miss’ only win this season came against FCS Southern Illinois and as their SEC schedule is looming on the horizon it isn’t going to get much easier for them. The Rebels have tried a few options at QB and Zack Stoudt has completed just 50.5 percent of his passes for 469 yards with two touchdowns and six interceptions. Jeff Scott is a home run threat averaging 4.8 yards per carry with three touchdowns and Branden Bolden has been fighting injuries rushing for just 62 yards. Ja-Mes Logan has 13 catches and Donte Moncrief has nine but the Ole Miss passing game has been virtually non-existent. Defensively Mississippi has seven interceptions, three of them by Charles Sawyer, and seven sacks as a team. Mike Marry leads the Rebels with 42 tackles, Damien Jackson has 31 tackles, and Joel Knight has 24. With games at Alabama, Arkansas, and LSU ahead, Ole Miss will need to take advantage of any winnable games left on the schedule.
Fresno State is 16-33-3 against the spread in their last 52 home games, 4-1 against the spread following a win, and 5-14 against the spread against a team with a losing record. Ole Miss is 10-2 against the spread in their last 12 non-conference games, 4-1 against the spread following a double digit home loss, and 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games overall.
I see Fresno State getting the win here but the number looks a bit too high as a field goal looks to be about right. Take the Rebels plus the 4.
