Dallas Cowboys vs. New England Patriots
The New England Patriots look to continue their dominant regular season home play as they welcome the Dallas Cowboys who are fresh off a bye. The Patriots are -7 over the Cowboys with an over/under point total set at 55.
The Dallas Cowboys desperately needed their bye week to heal and retool as the NFC East is well within reach heading into week six. The Cowboys lost a heartbreaker to the Lions in week four allowing 31 second half points as Tony Romo faltered with two pick sixes. The Cowboys offense should be operating at a high level in this contest with Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, and Felix Jones fresh off rest, which means we should have a shootout on our hands here. The Dallas defense is adept at getting to the quarterback, but the secondary has issues which will likely be exploited by Tom Brady.
The New England Patriots have scored 30 points or more in each of their games this year, and don’t figure to slow down with a bye week on the horizon next week. Tom Brady has been playing out of his mind and Bill Belichick’s play calling has really maximized the efforts of the many contributors to the Patriots offensive schemes. New England’s defense could easily have their hands full here as the unit ranks last in the league allowing 326.6 yards through the air per game. The Pats are used to playing with a lead which weakens the stat, but nonetheless defending all the Cowboys targets will prove difficult.
The total is astronomical, but I think offense rules the day in a big way here as the Pats once again score 30 or more points. Dallas has the playmakers to stay in the game and while I expect the Pats to continue their streak of regular season home wins, I’m not sure which side gets the cover. Ill take the over 55 in this game which should be a very exciting one.
