Texas Rangers vs. Cleveland Indians
The Texas Rangers and the Cleveland Indians meet on Wednesday for game two of their series in Arlington. The Rangers are -190 favorites over the Indians with an over/under run total set at 9.5.
The Texas Rangers are in the only hotly contested divisional race, the American League West and the more they can just keep on winning, the more they have matters in their own hands. On Tuesday David Murphy homered twice, Josh Hamilton homered, and Adrian Beltre homered as well as the the Rangers scored 10 times on 14 hits. On the mound Matt Harrison allowed seven hits and three earned runs while striking out four over five innings of work to get his 12th win of the season. For Wednesday’s game Texas starts Derek Holland who has won three of his last four decisions. For the season Holland has allowed 188 hits and 82 earned runs while striking out 142 in 179 innings of work.
The Cleveland Indians are playing they are ready for the season to be over and appear to just be going through the motions at this point. On Tuesday Carlos Santana homered twice, Kosuke Fukudome had two hits, and Jason Kipnis had a hit and drive in a run as the Indians scored four times on nine hits. Starting pitcher Justim Masterson allowed eight hits and six earned runs while striking out just two through five innings of work to take his 10th loss of the season. For game two at Texas Cleveland starts David Huff who has lost three of his last four starts. For the season Huff has allowed 32 hits and 13 earned runs while striking out 27 in 38.1 innings of work.
Texas is 6-2 in their last eight home games, 6-2 in their last eight games as a home favorite, and 2-6 in Holland’s last eight starts in game two of a series. Cleveland is 2-6 in their last eight games overall, 2-9 in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record, and 3-13 in Huff’s last 16 road starts. Cleveland is 1-5 in their last six games in Texas.
This looks like another mismatch as Texas should win going away. Take the Rangers minus the 190.
