Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals
The Seattle Seahawks look for their first win of the season as they host the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals are -3.5 favorites over the Seahawks with an over/under point total set at 41.
Like most of the teams in the NFC West it looks like the Seattle Seahawks may need to take a step backwards before they can move forward. Seattle made the playoffs last season and won a playoff game in Pete Carroll’s first year as their Head Coach but this season they look to have their work cut out for them. Seattle made the decision to go with Tavarris Jackson at QB and thus far Jackson has completed 62 percent of his passes for 356 yards with two touchdowns and an interception but he has been sacked 10 times in just two games. The Seahawks running game is struggling with Marshawn Lynch gaining just 44 yards thus far. Justin Forsett and Ben Obamanu lead Seattle in receptions with six and Doug Baldwin and Mike Williams have five each. With the Seahawks offense gaining just 383 yards, the defense has allowed 630 yards and are losing the turnover battle by three. Kam Chancellor leads the Hawks in tackles with 19 while Earl Thomas has 15 and Brandon Browner and Aaron Curry have 11 tackles each. If the Seahawks are going back to the playoffs they are going to need to turn things around in a hurry.
With most of the teams in NFC West in rebuilding mode, the Arizona Cardinals are in prime position to win the division and make the playoffs. The Cardinals made the big off season Acquisition when they went out and traded for Kevin Kolb and thus far he has paid dividends completing 61 percent of his passes for 560 yards and four touchdowns with just one interception while he has been sacked five times. Beanie Wells has handled the running game rushing for 183 yards and two touchdowns. Larry Fitzgerald leads Arizona in receiving with 10 catches for 195 yards and a touchdown while Early Doucet and Andre Roberts have five catches each. Defensively Kerry Rhodes has 15 tackles and two sacks, Paris Lenon has 14 tackles, and rookie Patrick Peterson has 13 tackles and a punt return for a touchdown. Overall the Arizona defense has allowed 932 yards and five touchdowns but they have been competitive and are just one point away from being 2-0.
Seattle is 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 home games, 8-20 against the spread in their last 28 games as an underdog, and 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games overall. Arizona is 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 games following a cover, 0-5 against the spread in their last five games against the NFC West, and 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games as a favorite. The home team is 7-3 against the spread in the last 10 meetings of these two.
Winning on the road in the NFL is never easy but Seattle is one of the tougher places to play; throw in that it’s back to back road games for Arizona and the line is better than a field goal right now the play is to take the home team and the points.
