Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox

The Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox meet for the fourth time in three days at Target Field.  The White Sox are -130 favorites over the Twins with an over/under run total set at 8.

The Minnesota Twins are ending their season much like it started, losing games in bunches. On Tuesday Trevor Plouffe and Chris Parmalee each had two hits and Jason Repko had a hit as the Twins had six hits in all and failed to score a run. On the mound Liam Hendricks allowed four hits and three runs while striking out four over seven innings of work to take his first loss. The Twins look to salvage a win in this series as they start Carl Pavano who won his last time out to end a five decision losing streak. For the season Pavano has allowed 221 hits and 96 earned runs while striking out 84 in 187.2 innings of work.

The Chicago White Sox probably won’t catch the Tigers in the American League Central but they are playing their best baseball of the year and are over .500 for their longest span of the season. On Tuesday Alex Rios homered, Alejando De Aza had two hits, and Brett Morel had a hit as the White Sox converted four hits into three runs. On the mound starter Jake Peavy allowed four hits and struck out nine over 6.1 innings of work to earn his seventh win of the season and Sergio Santos earned his 29th save of the year. For Wednesday’s series finale Chicago starts Johnny Danks who has won two of his last three decisions. For the season Danks has allowed 149 hits and 65 earned runs while striking out 118 in 146 innings of work.

Minnesota is 3-14 in their last 17 home games against a team with a winning road record, 6-22 in their last 28 home games, and 1-4 in Pavano’s last five starts against the A.L. Central. Chicago is 7-0 in their last seven road games against a team with a losing home record, 17-5 in their last 22 games against a team with a losing record, and 3-8 in Danks’ last 11 road starts. Chicago is 6-0 in their alst six games in Minnesota.

After just eight hits on Tuesday these teams should come out swinging on Wednesday and look for this one to go over the total.
