Milwaukee Brewers vs. Colorado Rockies

The Milwaukee Brewers look for momentum heading into the post season as they host the Colorado Rockies.  The Brewers are -230 favorites over the Rockies with an over/under run total set at 8.5.

The Milwaukee Brewers look to have a safe in the N.L. Central and look to be headed to the post season but with 14 games left, they haven’t closed it out just yet. The Brewers are 5-5 in their last 10 games, 51-22 at home this season, and lead the division by six games over St. Louis. As a team Milwaukee is hitting .261 led by Ryan Braun at .331, Nyjer Morgan at .310, and Prince Fielder at .293. As a team the Brewers pitching staff has a combined ERA of 3.66 with the starters at 3.71 and the bullpen at 3.54. For game one against the Rockies Milwaukee starts Zack Greinke who has won two of his last three starts. For the season Greinke has allowed 140 hits and 65 earned runs while striking out 172 in 148.1 innings of work.

The Colorado Rockies are one of the more disappointing teams in baseball as one of baseball’s best lineups hasn’t yielded winning results. The Rockies have won their last two games, 5-5 in their last 10 games, and 31-41 on the road this season. As a team Colorado is hitting .259 led by Troy Tulowitzki at .306, Todd Helton at .303, and Carlos Gonzalez at .299. As a team the Rockies pitching staff has a combined ERA of 4.37 with the starters at 4.60 and the bullpen at 3.92. For game one against the Brewers Colorado starts Esmil Rogers who has lost his last four decisions. For the season Rogers has allowed 89 hits and 48 earned runs while striking out 55 over 69 innings of work.

Milwaukee is 4-1 in their last five days following an off day, 39-12 in their last 51 home games against a right handed starter, and 12-0 in Greinke’s last 12 home starts. Colorado is 1-4 in their last five game one of a series, 3-13 in their last 16 road games against a team with a winning record, and 1-4 in Rogers’ last four starts. Colorado is 2-5 in the last seven meetings of these two.

This is a game where the Brewers should have no problem and anything short of an easy win would be disappointing for them.   Take the Brewers minus the 230.
