Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals
The Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals meet for game two of their series in Chicago. The White Sox are -135 favorites over the Royals with an over/under run total set at 8.5.
No matter how good one team is or no matter how bad, the Chicago White Sox struggle every time they face the Kansas City Royals and Friday Night was just another time where it was the case. On Friday Paul Konerko and Dayan Viciedo each had hits as Konerko’s was a solo home run as the White Sox scored just once on two hits for the night. Starter Zack Stewart allowed 12 hits and nine earned runs over just four innings of work to take his sixth loss of the year. For Sunday’s game Chicago starts John Danks who won last time out to end a personal three game losing streak. For the season Danks has allowed 176 hits and 79 earned runs while striking out 127 over 163 innings of work.
The Kansas City Royals continued their dominance over the Chicago White Sox as they handed them a decisive loss on Friday. Eric Hosmer, Salvador Perez, Alcides Escobar, and Jeff Francoeur all homered as the Royals pounded out 18 hits and scored 11 runs. On the mound Bruce Chen allowed just two hits and a run over eight innings as he earned his 12th win of the year. For Saturday’s game Kansas City starts Everett Teaford who has won both games he has started this year. For the season Teaford has allowed 30 hits and 11 earned runs while striking out 24 over 39 innings of work.
Chicago is 3-10 in their last 13 games overall, 0-5 in their last five home games, and 7-2 in Danks’ last nine home starts. Kansas City is 5-1 in their last six games as a road underdog, 7-2 in their last nine games against the A.L. Central, and 4-10 in their last 14 games in game two of a series, and 13-44 in their last 57 road games against a left handed starter.
Kansas City just has Chicago’s number and taking the Sox against them just seems like good money chasing bad these days. I’m going with the Royals plus the 115.
Kansas City Royals +115 Chicago White Sox
