Atlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

The Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers meet for game two of their series in Atlanta.  The Braves are -150 favorites over the Dodgers with an over/under run total set at 8.

The Atlanta Braves have a comfortable eight game lead in the N.L. Wild Card race but a few more games like they played on Friday and that can evaporate in a hurry. Dan Uggla had two hits including a home run and Michael Bourn, martin Prado, Freddie Freeman, and Alex Gonzalez all had two hits as the Braves scored six times on 14 hits. On the mound starter Brandon Beachy allowed four hits and three earned runs while striking out seven over six innings of work to not factor in the decision as Arodys Vizcaino allowed four hits and five earned runs while just retiring one batter to take the blown save and the loss. For Saturday’s rematch Atlanta starts Mike Minor who has won his last four decisions. For the season Minor has allowed 64 hits and 27 earned runs while striking out 52 in 55.2 innings of work.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are finishing the season strong but this season will go down in Dodger history as an outright disaster. Juan Rivera had two hits and three RBI’s, James Loney had a hit and three RBI’s, and Andre Ethier had a hit and two RBI’s as the Dodgers scored eight times on 10 hits. Starter Chad Billingsley didn’t last long as he allowed nine hits and five earned runs over four innings of work to not factor in the decision as Hong-Chih Kuo got the win and Javy Guerra had his 14th save. For Sunday’s rematch Los Angeles starts Nathan Evoldi who hasn’t won since his first outing this year. For the season Evaldi has allowed 22 hits and 10 earned runs while striking out 18 over 26 innings of work.

Atlanta is 9-4 in their last 13 games overall, 39-20 in their last 59 home games, and 7-0 in Minor’s last seven starts. Los Angeles is 5-0 in their last five road games, 5-2 in their last seven games against a left handed starter, and 3-8 in their last 11against the N.L. East. Los Angeles is 4-8 in their last 12 meetings in Atlanta.

The Dodgers have been hot but the Braves are simply the better team as well as having the advantage on the mound in this one as well.  Take the Braves minus the 150.
