After hitting five home runs on Friday night the Tampa Bay Rays bats’ went to sleep on Saturday as they were no match for the Yankees. Desmond Jennings had two hits including a home run, Johnny Damon had a hit and scored, and Evan Longoria and B.J. Upton had hits as they Rays scored just twice off of five hits. On the mound Jeremy Hellickson had a bad day as he allowed eight hits and four earned runs striking out four but lasting just 4.1 innings while taking his eighth loss of the season. For Sunday’s deciding game Tampa Bay starts James Shields who has won three of his last four starts. For the season Shields has allowed 139 hits and 55 earned runs while striking out 167 in 176.2 innings of work.
