Cleveland Indians vs. Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Indians close out their three game series in Chicago as both teams continue to chase the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central.  The Indians are -130 favorites over the White Sox with an over/under run total set at 8.

The Chicago White Sox followed up their dramatic win on Tuesday by looking flat at the plate on Wednesday as their offense never really gave them much of a chance to win. Alexei Ramirez hit a solo home run, Alejandro De Aza had two hits, and Adam Dunn had a hit as the White Sox scored just the one run off of four hits. Starter mark Buehrle allowed 12 hits and four earned runs while striking out three over 7.1 innings of work to take his sixth loss of the year. For Thursday’s game Chicago starts Phillip Humber who has lost five of his last six decisions. For the season Humber has allowed 116 hits and 53 earned runs while striking out 83 in 130 innings of work.

The Cleveland Indians got the win on Wednesday and combined with the Tigers’ home loss to the Twins it leaves the Indians just two games back in the A.L. Central. Shin-Soo Choo had three hits and Carlos Santana and Kosuke Fukudome each added two hits as the Indians scored four runs off of 12 hits. On the mound Fausto Carmona had his best outing of the year allowing just four hits and a run while striking out six over 8.1 innings of work to earn his sixth win of the season while Chris Perez got the final two outs to get his 26th save. For Thursday’s game Cleveland starts Justin Masterson who is 1-2 against the White Sox this season. For the year Masterson has allowed 150 hits and 50 earned runs while striking out 127 over 167 innings of work.

Chicago is 6-1 in their last seven games against a right handed starter, 3-8 in their last 11 home games, and 0-5 in Humber’s last five starts. Cleveland is 2-5 in their last seven road games, 3-10 in their last 13 road games at a team with a losing home record, and 4-0 in Masterson’s last four starts. Cleveland is 4-13 in the last 17 meetings of these two.

We haven’t seen a lot of scoring by these two but this is the game of this series where we do.  Take the over 8 here.
