Los Angeles Angels vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

With the series knotted at a game each, the Los Angeles Angels and the Los Angeles Dodgers meet for game three of their series in Anaheim.  The Angels are -140 favorites over the Dodgers with an over/under run total set at 7.5.

The Los Angeles Angels expected to be in a defensive pitcher’s duel on Saturday and while their pitcher was dealing, the Dodgers didn’t buy into the idea. Vernon Wells hit a two run home run and Erick Aybar, Peter Bourjos, and Jeff Mathis all had two hits as part of a 10 hit seven run offensive night for the Angels. Starter Jered Weaver looks to be all the way back as he allowed just four hits and a run while striking out eight over eight innings to get his 10th win of the season. For Sunday’s game the Angels go with Ervin Santana who has lost his last four decisions to make the start. For the season Santana has allowed 107 hits and 50 earned runs while striking out 92 over 110.1 innings of work.

The Los Angeles Dodgers couldn’t follow up on Friday Night’s win has their bats were held in check on Saturday. Andre Ethier had two hits and James Loney, Aaron Miles, and Dioner Navarro each had a hit as five hits and a run was the extent of the Dodgers offense for the night. Clayton Kershaw was missing his best stuff as he allowed nine hits and six earned runs while striking out 10 over six innings of work to take his fourth loss of the year. For Sunday’s game the Dodgers look to take the series as they start Chad Billingsley. Billingsley has won his last two starts and for the season he has allowed 107 hits and 47 earned runs while striking out 90 over 100.1 innings of work.

The Angels are 5-1 in their last six interleague games, 6-1 in their last seven games against a right handed starter, and 1-4 in Santana’s last five starts. The Dodgers are 8-19 in their last 27 interleague games, 3-10 in their last 13 against the American League West, and 2-7 in Billingsley’s last nine starts on the road against a team with a winning record. The Dodgers are 3-8 in the last 11 meetings of these two.

We should see some offense here and witht he total set a little too low this one should go over.  Take the over 7.5 tonight.
