Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Milwaukee Brewers

The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Milwaukee Brewers meet for game two of their series in the desert.  The Brewers are -125 favorites over the Diamondbacks with an over/under run total set at 9.

The Arizona Diamondbacks got off to a solid start in the series against the Brewers by shutting them out on Monday. Ryan Roberts hit a two run home run, and Willie Bloomquist and Chris Young had two hits each as part of the eight hits and three runs the Diamondbacks offense put together for the night. On the mound starter Josh Collmenter had a big night allowing just three hits and striking out seven without allowing a run over eight innings of work and David Hernandez pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his ninth save of the year. For Tuesday’s game Arizona starts Barry Enright who has been in the Minors since his start on May 4th of this year. While in the Majors earlier this season Enright allowed 43 hits and 25 runs while striking out 19 in 34.2 innings of work.

The Milwaukee Brewers won their final two games of their series in Colorado but the road has been a tough place for them this season and it was once again on Monday. Nyjer Morgan, Prince Fielder, and Yuniesky Betancourt each had hits but that was all of the offense the Brewers mustered as they were shut out. On the mound Randy Wolf fought the good fight as he allowed eight hits and three runs, two of them earned, while striking out three over 7.1 innings of work to take his seventh loss of the year. For Tuesday’s rematch Milwaukee starts Yovani Gallardo who has lost four of his last six decisions. For the year Gallardo has allowed 127 hits and 55 earned runs while striking out 106 in 121.1 innings of work.

Arizona is 5-0 in their last five game two of a series, 6-2 in their last eight games against Milwaukee, and 2-9 in Enright’s last 11 starts. Milwaukee is 3-9 in their last 12 road games, 1-7 in their last eight games against a team with a winning record, and 2-5 in Gallardo’s last seven starts. Milwaukee is 6-1 in their last seven games in Arizona.

Enright didn’t look good in the minors and I’m not sure how he was brought back up and Gallardo hasn’t done well on the road so this one sets up for plenty of hitting.  Take the over 9 here.
