Mexico vs. Honduras
The Second semi final sees surprise package Honduras under with the Tottenham midfield general Wilson Palacios taking on a Mexico team led by the new superstar of world football Chicarito Hernandez the Manchester United Striker. Will Mexico or Honduras triumph at the Reliant Stadium in Houston?
Mexico have played some terrific football since the start of the 2011 Concacaf Gold Cup and are deservedly favourites to lift the title at this point. With Javier “Chicarito” Hernandez(Manchester United) banging in the goals and Rafael Marquez (New York Redbulls and formerly FC Barcelona) and Giovani Dos Santos (Tottenham Hotspur) playing inspired football this mexican team has flair and finesse and play with a passion that is contagious. The Mexican’s lit up the 2010 World Cup with a similar all action football and with a squad that includes Efran Juarez(Celtic) Pablo Barerra(West Ham United) this team will fancy their chances of not only winning this game but of winning the whole tournament.
Honduras are a tough team to beat as they have shown for most of this tournament having succumbed to only one team (Jamaica) and only conceded three goals in the four games they have played thus far. With Hendry Thomas (Wigan Athletic) Wilson Palacios(Tottenham Hotspur) in their side they have some talent to go with their hard work ethic and tough tackling(five players were booked in the first ninty minutes of their quarter final) and I think they will try to stifle the Mexican midfield and prevent Hernandez getting the ball.
So far in the tournament Herndandez and Mexico have been almost unstopable with six goals in four games Chicarito is the tournaments top scorer and most likely will land the Golden Boot for the tournament. I think it may be more difficult for Mexico on Wednesday night but I still think the Mexicans come through.
