Dallas Mavericks vs. Miami Heat

The Heat and Mavericks collide in Game 2 of the NBA finals with the Miami Heat listed as a 4-point favorite over the Mavericks.  The over/under for the game is listed at 186 points.

Lebron James continued his stellar playoffs to lead the Heat past the Mavericks 92-84 in Game 1 of the NBA finals on Tuesday night. Lebron James scored 24 points and notched his first NBA finals win, while Dwayne Wade came alive in the second half, scoring 15 of his 22 points in the second half as the Heat pulled away from the Mavericks in the final quarter.

In what has become a re-occurring theme in these playoffs, the Heat put on another stellar defensive effort to hold the Mavericks to their lowest point total in the playoffs to date. The Mavericks shot just 37% from the floor, which is by far their worst night of the postseason offensively. As usual, Dirk Nowitzki led the way with 27 points and eight rebounds, while Shawn Marion chipped in with 16 and 10 boards.

The Heat are 6-0 against the spread in their last six home games and 7-0 against the spread in their last seven games as a favorite. The Mavericks on the other hand are 7-1 against the spread in their last nine road games and 12-3-1 against the spread in their last 16 games playing on one days rest. Head to head, the Mavericks are 5-1-1 against the spread in the last seven meetings in Miami while the road team is 10-2-1 against the spread in the last 13 meetings. The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings.

It has to be a little concerning for Dallas fans that the Heat were able to do what they have been doing all post-season, pulling away late in the fourth quarter. The Mavs were going neck and neck with the Heat up until the middle of the fourth, until Dwayne Wade and Lebron James decided to step it up a gear and take the game over. Now nothing has changed since Game 1, however I hardly think the Mavs are out of it. The Mavs are still the same team that had won 10 of its previous 11 playoffs game and had been the best road team in the league since the season started. I’m not sure Dallas gets the win their looking for here, but something tells me this one is goes down to the wire, therefore I’ll take the Mavericks plus the 4 points.
