Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics look to overcome injuries and even the series as they host the Miami Heat in Game Four.  The Heat is 1-point road favorites over the Celtics with an over/under point total set at 181.

Rajon Rondo will attempt to play tonight.  The real challenge comes when the starting level of adrenaline will make it difficult for Rajon Rondo to overcome a bum left arm twice in a row.  To make matters worse, backup Delonte West is also nursing a sore shoulder leaving Doc Rivers hesitant to even enter the trainer’s room lest he uncover more troubling information.  While the point position caught the most attention, the real story of game three was Kevin Garnett brutalizing Chris Bosh in the matchup of power forwards.  Kevin Garnett finally exploded and figures to propel the Celtics to victory if he can repeat that performance while simultaneously making Bosh invisible.

The Miami Heat once again failed to win at TD Garden, marking the third road loss in the venue this year.  The Heat defense was the dominant unit in the first two games, but the roles quickly reversed once the series hit Boston as the rowdy Boston fans elevated the level of intensity from the resilient Celtics.  The Heat got nice minutes out of Mario Chalmers and Joel Anthony in game three, but starting PG Mike Bibby failed to drain a single basket and contributed only 1 assist in just 17 minutes, not the kind of production that was expected bringing a veteran on board to lead the offense.  LeBron James and Dwyane Wade each ceased to be as effective scoring and will need to look to turnover generation to create offense in game four.

Despite the injuries on the Boston side, I still like their chances to win once more in front of their home crowd.  It won’t be nearly as lopsided this time as Heat coach Erik Spoelstra will come prepared with an arsenal of attacks on the Celtics’ weaknesses, but I think the Celtics have another big effort within them. I’ll take the Celtics plus the 1-point.

Boston Celtics +1 Miami Heat
