Memphis Grizzlies vs. Oklahoma City
The Thunder look to take a 3-2 lead when they host the Grizzlies for game five tonight. The Thunder is 6-point favorites over the Grizzlies with an over/under total of 198.
After surviving triple overtime in game four, the Thunder have earned themselves a chance to take a 3-2 lead in the series when they host the Grizzlies in game five tonight. In a game packed with clutch shots and big plays, the Thunder came out on top by 133-123 as Russell Westbrook led the way with 40 points, while Kevin Durant added 35 points despite being starved of touches for most of the game. Both Westbrook and Durant each missed a shot to seal the game before Durant was able to score six points in the third overtime to level the series.
For the Grizzlies, it was a slightly more balanced scoring effort as five players finished in double digits in scoring. Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol were big for the Grizzlies, combining for 60 points and 37 rebounds. As a team, Memphis shot just 36.0 percent from the field, but were able to stay in the battle because of their effort on the boards, grabbing 24 offensive rebounds. Besides the Grizzlies’ two bigs, Shane Battier played a big role of keeping Durant out of the game for as long as he did, including not allowing Durant to put up a shot attempt for over five minutes straight.
While game four was so closely contested, it always seemed as though it was the Thunder who had all the chances to win, while the Grizzlies were making key plays just to stay alive in the game. After playing so many extra minutes, both squads will be mentally drained, but after such a big win, I expect the Thunder to keep the momentum and take this one in front of their home crowd. Take the Thunder minus the 6 points here.
