Atlanta Braves vs. Milwaukee Brewers

The Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers meet in game two of their series in Atlanta.  The Braves are -160 favorites over the Brewers with an over/under total set at 7.5 runs.

The Atlanta Braves are back to .500 after winning on Monday night but they are still tied for third place in the National League East. David Ross homered and had two hits while Chipper Jones, Dan Uggla, and Alex Gonzalez all had two hits each as the Braves had 10 hits and six runs on Tuesday. Jair Jurrjens allowed seven hits and two runs while striking out four to get his third win of the season. On Tuesday Atlanta starts Tommy Hanson who has won his last two starts. For the season Hanson has allowed 28 hits and 10 earned runs while striking out 34 in 35 innings of work.

The Milwaukee Brewers missed out on a chance to gain ground on the NL Central leading Cardinals as they lost to the Braves Monday Night. Rickie Weeks and Yuniesky Betancourt had two hits each and Ryan Braun and Corey Hart added hits but it simply wasn’t enough to keep pace with Atlanta. Yovanni Gallardo allowed nine hits and five runs while striking out seven in five innings of work to take his second loss of the year. On Tuesday Milwaukee looks to rebound as they start Marco Estrada who has alternated between starting and the bullpen. For the season Estrada has allowed 15 hits and seven earned runs while striking out 18 in 21 innings of work.

Atlanta is 4-1 in their last five game two of a series, 2-5 in their last seven against the NL Central, and 10-3 in Hanson’s last 13 starts on five days rest. Milwaukee is 4-1 in their last five games as an underdog, 5-12 in their last 17 road games, and 1-5 in their last six road games against a team with a losing home record. Milwaukee is 5-3 in the last eight meetings between these two clubs.

Atlanta is playing very well right now and while they don’t always put up big offensive numbers, they play well enough in the field to compensate.  I’m taking the Braves minus the 160.
