St. Louis Blues vs. Nashville Predators
The Nashville Predators are -130 favorites over the St. Louis Blues. The over/under total for goals is set at 5. The Nashville Predators will look for their 9th win in 10 games as they travel to St. Louis to take on the Blues with home ice advantage in the opening round up for grabs. The Preds have separated themselves from the Western Conference log jam and can clinch the 4th seed with a win over the Blues are who wrapping up a very disappointing season.
Everyone knows that the Preds are a defense first type of team with spectacular goaltending and a very rough and tough blue line but you can’t discredit the offensive attack of the Preds as they have scored some big goals at critical moments this season. If the Preds can lock up the 4th spot in the West they will hold a defensive advantage against whomever they match up against and will hopefully use that to their full advantage and move on to round 2. With the help of a first round upset the Predators could match up against the Red Wings in the second round which would be an absolute gem to watch as two divisional rivals with completely contrasting styles would square off for the right to play in the Western Conference finals and be one step close to realizing their dream of playing for the Stanley Cup. All of the speculation begins tonight as Nashville looks for 2 big points on the road.
The Blues meanwhile will look to play spoiler against their Central division rivals and you can be sure that St. Louis will want to come out and play in this one as they feel it should be them playing for home ice and not the Preds. St. Louis had very high expectations coming into the season and they were living up to them early on as they launched out to an 8-0 start to the year. Since then the injury bug and a lack of cohesion has the Blues on the outside looking in but with some great moves at the trade deadline and a decent draft pick on tap this team could be back into contention for the Central division as early as next season. For now the Blues will settle for a home ice win to close out the season and give their fans something to look forward to next year.
Despite having an offensive advantage by almost 20 goals over the Predators, Nashville’s defensive tenacity is 3rd among NHL team’s and have given up 42 less goals than the Blues have. I think Nashville really wants to win this one and lock up that 4th seed and send a message to the league that they mean business come playoff time. The line is incredibly favorable for the Preds at only -130
