Philadelphia 76ers vs. Miami Heat
The Miami Heat look to win their opening round series as they host the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night. The Heat is 11-point home favorites over the 76ers with an over/under point total set at 187.
The Miami Heat lead the series 3-1 after failing to close out game four in Philly on Sunday afternoon. The Heat led by 6 with 1:35 to play but couldn’t hang on as the Sixers made two clutch threes to seal the deal. It was a familiar story for Miami with James and Wade carrying the load, Bosh playing third wheel, and the rest of the team pretty silent on the score sheet. The Heat has now beaten the Sixers by 8 and 19 in Miami in this post-season series, and by 10, 9, and 12 in the regular season series, which Miami swept.
The Philadelphia 76ers deserve props for not quitting but are probably fearful of going down the road of the Indiana Pacers here after avoiding elimination. The Sixers’ bench was the main catalyst for victory last time out as has been the case all season. Lou Williams hit a clutch three in the final minute and Evan Turner stepped up to make up for an off night by Thaddeus Young. Coach Doug Collins will have a big challenge ahead of him keeping his younger cast of players focused in an unfamiliar setting of having to avoid elimination on the road.
I’ll admit that yesterday’s game in Chicago makes me extremely wary of backing an inexperienced road underdog in a close out game. Miami has proven able to beat this Sixers team handily on numerous occasions, and the cast of Heat veterans should be able to take care of business and advance here tonight. I’ll be taking the Miami Heat minus the 11-points as I expect them to advance to take on the Boston Celtics in the next round.
