Philadelphia 76ers vs. Miami Heat

The Miami Heat look to make it 2-0 when they host the Philadelphia 76ers in the opening round of the playoffs. The Miami Heat is 10-point home favorites over the Philadelphia 76ers with an over/under total of 190 in tonights game.

Despite a slow start, the Heat came away with a 97-89 victory over the 76ers in the opening game of the best of seven series. The Heat trailed 31-19 after the first break, but came on strong in the second and third quarters behind 25 points and 12 rebounds from forward Chris Bosh. Lebron James added 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Dwayne Wade scored five of his 17 points in the final 1:34 to seal the win. Thaddeus Young top scored for Philly with 20 points and 11 rebounds off the bench, while Jrue Holiday added 19 and Elton Brand 17 for the 76ers who gave up a big second quarter lead for the second straight meeting. Back in late March, the 76ers led by as many as 16 points in the second quarter, 14 points was their biggest lead on Saturday night.

The Heat are 4-11 against the spread in their last 15 games as a home favorite of 5-10 points and 1-6 against the spread in their last seven conference quarterfinals games. The 76ers on the other hand are 5-1 against the spread in their last six-playoff games as an underdog, but just 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games overall. Head to head, the home team is 17-8 against the spread in the last 25 meetings, while the under is 12-6 in the last 18 meetings.

Saturday’s win by the Heat marked the fourth time this season Miami have beaten Philly by between 8-12 points. Truth be told, the Heat were a bit tight to start their first playoff game and didn’t play their best game, and still won by near on double digits. Expect Philly to give Miami a run for their money in Games 3 and 4, but not this one.  Take Miami minus the 10-points.
