New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics are 7-point favorites over the New York Knicks in Game 2 of the playoff series.  The over/under total for the game is set at 193.

With a one-point lead and 20 seconds left in the game, Carmelo Anthony had the ball in hand with a chance to take game one from the Celtics. Instead, an offensive foul for shoving opened the door for the Celtics and Ray Allen made no mistake, hitting the biggest three of the game to lead the Celtics to an 87-85 victory. As a team, the Celtics had a rough shooting night of just 43.8 percent from the field, except for Ray Allen who had 24 points and Jermaine O’Neal who had a perfect shooting night of six from six, while making five blocks. A worrying sign for the Celtics is the lack of production they are receiving from the bench, who scored just eight points compared to the Knicks’ bench scoring of 23 points. For the Knicks, Amare Stoudamire was spectacular, finishing with a game-high 28 points and 11 rebounds. On the other hand, Carmelo Anthony had just 15 points on five of 18 shooting while playing just 33 minutes because of foul trouble.

Game one of the series was rugged, gritty, and physical and everything we’ve come to expect from the Celtics in playoff mode. With Anthony missing on a golden opportunity to seal game one, the Celtics now have a 5-0 record against the Knicks this season. If Anthony were to stay out of foul trouble and play his usual 40+ minutes of the game, I think he can put up enough points and make a big enough impact in game two, so I’m taking the Knicks with the 7-points tonight.
