Memphis Grizzlies vs. San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs are 1-point road favorites over the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 4 of the series where the Grizzlies are leading 2 games to 1.  The over/under total for the game is set at 189 points.

On the back of a dramatic 91-88 victory in game three, the Grizzlies have earned a great opportunity to take a commanding 3-1 lead against the sputtering Spurs. Memphis’ Zach Randolph had a game-high 25 points, including a rare three-pointer to put the Grizzlies up by five with 41.9 seconds left in the game. Marc Gasol chipped in 17 points and nine rebounds while Memphis’ defense held the Spurs to 41.3 percent shooting from the field. The Spurs didn’t have the same success at the three-point line, hitting just two of their 15 attempts while Manu Ginobili didn’t even get a shot off against the expiring clock and the Spurs down by three. Looking at the stats, Ginobili led the team with 23 points, with Tony Parker adding 16 points and Tim Duncan chipping in with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Antonio McDyess left the game with 2:56 remaining after an inadvertent collision with Duncan and is listed as day to day.

The Spurs are now 0-6 against the spread in their last six games overall, while the Grizzlies are 4-0 against the spread in their last four home games versus teams with winning road records. Head to head, the news gets worse for the Spurs, who are 1-4 against the spread in the last five meetings in Memphis and 0-8 against the spread in the last eight meetings overall.

Before this season, the Grizzlies were winless in 12 playoff games but are now in the midst of a possibly upsetting one of the title favorites. Before game one began, I was looking for the Spurs to take the lead and win the series by 4-1, but the Grizzlies have been playing great basketball and I actually feel they should be favorites in this meeting. I never would’ve expected the Spurs to be trailing 3-1 after four games, but I have to go with the team riding the momentum.  I’m taking the Memphis Grizzlies plus the 1-point at home tonight.
