Golden St. Warriors vs. Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets are 11-point favorites over the Golden St. Warriors with an over/under total set at 220 points. The Nuggets look to continue their home dominance over the Golden State Warriors when the two collide in Denver this evening.
The Nuggets inched closer to secure the fifth seed in the West with a dominant 130-106 rout of the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night. Point guard Ty Lawson set a league record connecting on his first 10 three pointers en route to a career high 37 points in the blowout victory. Lawson finished 10 of 11 from beyond the arc. The Nuggets need just one more win from their remaining two games to lock up the fifth spot, where they will face either Oklahoma City, Dallas or the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Warriors impressive three game-winning streak came to an end on Monday night after they fell to the visiting Sacramento Kings 104-103. David Lee, who is averaging 25.0 and 17.0 over the last three games, led the Warriors with 24 points and 14 rebounds, while guard Monta Ellis was taken off the court after being fouled hard by DeMarcus Cousins. Ellis is expected to miss tonight’s game.
The Nuggets are 18-8 against the spread in their last 26 games as a favorite and 5-1 against the spread in their last six games as a home favorite of 11 or greater. The Warriors on the other hand are 2-7 against the spread in their last nine road games and 1-4 against the spread in their last 5 games playing on zero days rest. Head to head, the Nuggets are 6-2 against the spread in the last eight meetings and 9-4 against the spread in the last 13 meetings in Denver. The road team is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings while the over is 6-1 in the last seven overall.
Giving up double digits to a team like the Warriors is always a risky proposition. In their last away game, they defeated the Blazers by 21 points. However, that’s were it stops for the Warriors as six of their previous seven road games before that were all double-digit losses. The Nuggets on the other hand have continued their home dominance all season and they are 5-1 ATS in their last six games as a home favorite of 11.0 or greater. Without Monta Ellis, I don’t see how the Warriors keep this one close tonight; therefore I will lay the 11 points and take the Nuggets.
