Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks

The New York Knicks look to break through against the Boston Celtics as the series moves to Madison Square Garden for Game Three.  The Knicks are 2-point favorites over the Celtics with an over/under total set at 191 points.

The New York Knicks fought down to the wire in consecutive games in Boston, but their execution down the stretch, namely on defense, simply wasnt there.  Meanwhile Boston was in top form at the end of both games sealing the victories in the final minutes.  Tonights matchup is headlined by injuries to key players on the Knicks as Amare Stoudemire sat out most of last game with back spasms but will play through them tonight and Chauncey Billups is a game time decision with a strained tendon in his knee that left him in a suit for game two.  Carmelo Anthony is coming off a 42 point 17 rebound effort, proving that being short-handed simply wont stop this team from competing.  Playing at home could serve to boost the confidence level of the Knicks supporting cast.

The Boston Celtics looked like the playoff veterans they are in the early going as all five starters scored in double figures in game one and four replicated the feat in game two with Rajon Rondo leading the way with 30 points on an uncharacteristic 23 shots.  The Celtics would probably still like to see more production out of their bench who has averaged just 11 PPG through the first two in the series.   Additionally, Doc Rivers cant be happy about his teams performance on the glass in game two, allowing the Knicks to grab 20 offensive rebounds.   The Celtics would like to perform the sweep, but are probably realistically hoping to just win one of two here in New York.

Boston swept the regular season series and is now 6-0 against the Knicks on the year.  Maybe that means the Knicks are e, but it could just mean the Knicks cant find a way to break through against this particular veteran club.      While the first two post-season meetings were lower scoring affairs in Boston, during the regular season three of four between these teams eclipsed the 200-point mark.

I think the best play here is the over in a game where the pace should be dictated by the home team.  Play the over 191 in this game.
