Atlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves finish out their series at Dodger Stadium tonight.  The Dodgers are -135 favorites over the Braves with an over/under total set at 6.5 runs.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to make it three out of four against the Braves when they conclude their series Thursday afternoon. On Wednesday Andre Ethier hit a home run that was part of his three hits and three runs scored, Casey Blake had two hits and scored twice, and Juan Uribe had three hits to pace the Dodgers offense. Jon Garland went the distance allowing just four hits and a run while striking out four over the nine innings. For Thursday’s series finale Los Angeles starts Clayton Kershaw for the fourth time this year. For the season Kershaw has allowed 22 hits and eight runs while striking out 29 in 24.1 innings of work.

The Atlanta Braves have thrown their big guns at the Dodgers but they haven’t had much success with them. On Wednesday the Atlanta bats took a vacation as Nate Mclouth had two hits and scored a run, Martin Prado had a hit and an RBI, and Brian McCann had a hit to provide all of the Braves offense on the night. Derek Lowe lasted just three innings allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out five to take his third loss of the year. On Thursday Atlanta start Jair Jurrjens for just the second time this year. In his other start Jurrjens allowed two hits in seven scoreless innings while striking out four.

Los Angeles is 6-2 in their last eight home games against a team with a losing road record, 4-8 in their last 12 against the NL East, and 5-2 in Kershaw’s last seven starts. Atlanta is 2-8 in their last 10 against the NL West, 0-4 in their last four game four of a series, and 7-3 in Jurrjens’ last 10 starts. Atlanta is 9-5 in the last 14 meetings of these two.

We have two solid arms going here and scoring runs may be a problem for both teams. While the total is set extremely low at six and a half, I think it stays under.

Under 6.5
