Virginia Commonwealth Rams vs. Florida St. Seminoles
In the most unlikely of Sweet 16 matchups that we could have dreamt of the VCU Rams will look to continue their magical run in March Madness against the Florida State Seminoles tonight in San Antonio. The Florida State Seminoles are 4-point favorites over the VCU Rams and the over/under total for the game is set at 131.
Virginia Commonwealth is 26-11 overall on the season and have a record of 16-20 against the spread. The Rams have been crowned this tourney’s official Cinderella team. The Rams won three games last week as underdogs to reach this matchup. The 94-76 rout of Purdue while getting 9- points really punctuated the improbable week as VCU hit a season-best 56.9 percent of its shots from the field after netting 33.9 percent and 40.9 percent in the wins over USC and Georgetown. The Rams started the season covering just one of their first three neutral-court games, but have gone 4-2 against the spread in that situation since the regular season ended. VCU’s eight neutral-site games have gone er the total in five of those eight games.
The Florida St. Seminoles are 23-10 overall and 17-11 against the spread this season. Florida St. matching up with VCU in this one certainly has its share of irony since the Seminoles ell to Virginia Tech in the ACC Tournament who were one of the schools many thought should have been invited to the tournament over VCU. The Seminoles are off a win over Texas A&M as 1-point favorites and the upset of Notre Dame as five-point underdogs, a most impressive showing by FSU’s vaunted defense in holding the Irish to just 57 points. Florida St. has covered the spread in six of its last seven games. The Seminoles are playing just their sixth neutral-site game, going 4-1 against the spread in the five games.
This is going to be a tightly contested game from start to finish. VCUs magic might be coming to an end, but there is no way that we cant take these points. This is uncharted territory for both teams, and well graciously take the 4-points on our side in what could be the trickiest game to pick on the board.
