Tennis-BNP Paribas Open Tennis Picks

The United States hard court season gets into full-swing in the month of March.  The Masters Series events begin with the BNP Paribas Open followed by the Sony Eriksson tournament in Miami at the end of the month.  All the top plays, including Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are entered in these events.  It is a good opportunity to make some money since some players have trained hard since the Australian Open and some have not.  There are lots of upsets in these tournaments with a lot of unexpected winners as Ivan Ljubicic won last years event.  Be sure to log-on to to get the latest tennis odds.

Fernando Verdasco vs. Sam Querrey

No. 9 seed Fernando Verdasco hasnt had to work very hard so far this week. The Spaniard had a first round bye, and only played one full set against Richard Berankis in the second round. His third round opponent is American Sam Querrey, who has had a dismal start to the 2011 season. His best result came in Memphis, where he made the quarterfinals, but otherwise his results have been a series of first and second round losses. Verdasco should have no trouble getting past Querrey.

Prediction: Fernando Verdasco in 2 sets

Robin Soderling vs. Phillipp Kohlchreiber

Robin Soderling and Philipp Kohlschreiber just met a few weeks ago on the indoor hardcourts of Rotterdam. Soderling won that encounter, but Kohlschreiber pushed him to 3 tough sets. It was the first time the Swede defeated Kohlschreiber in 4 tries. Soderling has been in devastating form this year. The Swede has lost exactly one match, at the Australian Open to Alexander Dolgopolov. With 3 titles to his name, he will surely have plenty of confidence going into this match. While Kohlschreiber clearly has the game to trouble Soderling, the German has been out of form. Expect the match to go to 3 sets, with Soderling getting his second victory.

Prediction: Robin Soderling in 3 sets
