South Florida Bulls vs. Villanova Wildcats
The Villanova Wildcats are 10-point favorites in the first round of the Big East Championships over the South Florida Bulls. The over/under total is 127 for this tilt. The Big East Conference is so strong that the Wildcats are a top-25 team nationally, but just a 10th-seed entering Madison Square Garden. The Bulls are the 15th-seeded team in the 16-team conference, and their season will be over with the next loss.
Villanova is 21-10 on the season and 11-17 against the spread this year.   Villanova is hoping to get back on the winning track after losing its last four games. The Wildcats are also 1-11 against the spread in their last 12 games, and havent covered a contest since beating West Virginia February 5th at home. Villanova concluded its regular season with Saturdays setback to Pittsburgh as a 9-point road underdog, 60-50. The combined 110 points never seriously threatened the 134-point closing total, ending a string of back-to-back er outings.
South Florida is 9=22 overall and 15-14 against the spread on the season. South Florida wrapped up its regular season with consecutive losses. Both games South Florida was listed as double-figure underdogs. The Bulls fell to St. Johns Saturday as an 11-point road underdog, 72-56, while the combined 128 points just went er the 127-point closing total. South Florida actually led by two points at halftime, 32-30, before getting dominated in the second half, 42-24. Forward Augustus Gilchrist paced the offense with 16 points and four rebounds, while guard Shaun Noriega had 14. Forward Ron Anderson contributed 13 points while forward Jarrid Famous had 10.
Villanova has won their last five meetings against South Florida and have covered in four of those five games. The Wildcats won the lone encounter this season on January 6th as a 7-point road favorite, 83-71, while the combined 154 points soared er the 128-point closing total. I expect another high paced game that should easily reach the er total of only 127. I hesitate to take Villanova since they have been struggling so much of lately. My only bet for this game will be the er. Enjoy the games as March Madness gets rolling in full effect this afternoon.
