New York Knicks vs. Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks are 2-point home favorites over the New York Knicks this evening in an Eastern Conference match-up.  The over/under total for the game is set at 203.  Atlanta is in fifth-place in the Eastern Conference, five games ahead of the sixth place Knicks.

The New York Knicks are 31-29 overall and 37-23 against the spread.  They are coming off a 119-115 loss to the Cleveland as 13-point home favorites.  The Knicks got 60 points from the Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudamire duet, yet Cleveland somehow found a way to extend its dominance over the Knicks, knocking off the Knicks for a second time in eight days and third time this season. The loss ended a three-game winning streak against the spread. The 234 points easily went er the 217 number, leaving New York 4-2 with ers’ in its last six games.  The der is 30-29 overall on the season.  The Knicks are 3-3 overall since the arrival of Carmelo Anthony from Denver.  He is averaging 26.5 points per game as a Knick compared to the 25.2 points per game with the Nuggets.

The Atlanta Hawks are 37-25 overall and have a record of 28-34 against the spread.  The Hawks have lost seven of their last eleven games including Fridays 111-104 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.  The Hawks were 3-point home favorites but surrendered five-point advantages to Oklahoma City in both the first and third quarters.  Kevin Durant led all scorers with 29 points for the Thunder. Josh Smith missed his second consecutive game with a sprained right knee. Smith is second on the team in points with 16.7 points per game and in rebounding with 8.7 rebounds per game.

This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two clubs on the regular season slate. Atlanta won the first two games and the Knicks won their most recent game on February 16th.  The Knicks have won six of the last eleven meetings between these clubs.  Two of the three games this year has gone der the total. I am expecting the Knicks to bounce back from that horrible loss to Cleveland on Friday and am going to take the Knicks plus the two points in the game.  The Knicks have been playing extremely hard since the arrival of Carmelo Anthony, its just taking them a little time to mesh into a cohesive unit.  As time goes on, I believe the Knicks will be a very strong team in the Eastern Conference.
