Illinois Fighting Illini vs. Purdue Boilermakers

The Purdue Boilermakers is 9-point home favorites over Illinois in Big 10 action.  The over/under total for the game is set at 136. March Madness begins with conference play, and progresses to conference tournaments before graduating to the NCAA Tournament.  Illinois currently find themselves in a 3-way tie for fourth place in the conference with Michigan St. and Penn St.  Purdue finds itself a game-behind first place Ohio St, and a game ahead of third-place Wisconsin.

Illinois is 18-11 overall and 15-14 against the spread.  They had a two game losing streak before beating Iowa on Saturday 81-68 as 11-point home favorites.  The combined 149 points went well er the 135-point total.  It was the second game in a row for Illinois that the er won.  Illinois is just 1-4 against the spread in their last five.

Purdue is 24-5 overall on the year and 18-8 against the spread.  They have won their last six games and have also covered in their last six, after beating Michigan St on Sunday 67-47 as 1-point road underdogs.  The combined 114 points went well der the 133-point total.  It was Purdues 2nd straight game that went der the point total. Center JaJuan Johnson paced the offense with 20 points and 17 rebounds, while guard ETwaun Moore added 17.  Guard Lewis Jackson was the only other player to reach double digits in scoring with 16 while also delivering seven assists.

Purdue is 4-0 overall and 3-1 against the spread in the last four games with Illinois.  The Boilermakers beat the Illini on February 13th as 2-point road underdogs 81-70.  The combined 151 points went er the 135-point total.  The er has won in the last four meeting and in eight of the last nine. Illinois guard Joseph Bertrand is estionable versus the Boilermakers due to an injured hip.  For this reason, I am gonna lay the 9-points and take the Purdue Boliermakers along with the er.  I expect this to be #5 in a row for the er to win and Purdue has dominated this series in recent years.
